Making Chicken Enchiladas With White Sauce in the Crockpot

!±8± Making Chicken Enchiladas With White Sauce in the Crockpot

We are a family that loves chicken enchiladas. We have a lot of fun with our crockpot a couple of times a week.

I decided to try our family recipe in the crockpot and it was wonderful! I started with five chicken breast. Since I buy the meat is cooked chicken breasts with skin and bones. I think if I come there to buy the breast without skin to dry.

Bring water to bring the boil and then simmer for about 45 minutes. Chicken should be cooked. I agree the chicken cool about fifteenMinutes and then they break. Many recipes suggest a preference for cut in pieces, we cut up the chicken.

Now is the time to create the sauce. The sauce should have two cans of cream of chicken soup. I'm happy for the low-sodium broth, if I buy it. If you regularly buy cream of chicken, that's fine, but the sauce is slightly salty taste. If your palate is used with salt, so you can find lower sodium a bit 'too bland for your tastes. Next is eight ounces sour cream. I use fat freeSour cream. There is a difference between the taste regular sour cream, sour cream and low-fat sour cream is not. Find the right combination of flavors for your family in the choice of soup and sour cream. Finally, you need a 4 ounces of diced red pepper. Try, more or less chillies depending on how hot your family likes to bowl.

If you want a sauce that is slightly thinner, add a little 'milk. Since we only drink milk without fat, I tend not to add it in. If you have a family, the drinks are lowFat or regular milk, you can add the third can of soup and milk to help thin the sauce a little. '

Mix sauce ingredients come together in a bowl. Dip moistened one or two tortillas with salsa. These are tortillas that will be used on top of casserole.

Next, add the chicken and mix well. Now is the time to put everything in your crockpot. I buy whole wheat tortillas mission. My crockpot that I use for this dish is six liters. At the end of the linethe crockpot I needed one and a half tortillas. Cover the bottom of your crockpot with the tortillas. Now add one third of your chicken. Lightly cover the chicken with a handful of shredded cheese. You can use cheddar or a combination of jack and cheddar cheeses. Repeat your layers two more times. I end with those dipped tortillas on the top. I put one more layer of cheese on top and it's ready to turn on. I put the crockpot on low for four hours.

Another alteration you can make is to tear the tortillas into strips, making it easier to cut when it's time to serve up the enchiladas.

When you serve the enchiladas, put a small spoon of sour cream, olives and/or a slice of avocado on top.

This is a dish that my entire family enjoys.
